RICHTER-HELM BIOLOGICS
Hamburg, 15. August 2007 --
Gedeon Richter, Budapest, with 70% and Helm AG, Hamburg, with 30% have taken over the entire shares of Strathmann Biotec GmbH & Co. KG as per July 1, 2007. Still within this month the name will change to Richter-Helm BioLogics. This acquisition is covering a state-of-the-art biotechnological plant for the bacterial type of biotechnology, and furthermore laboratory R&D and pilot plant capacity. The number of employees at 3 locations, i.e.Hamburg/Habichthorst, Bovenau/Dengelsberg and Hanover is 81.
With this new acquisition we will be in a position to strengthen our commitment to biotechnology. A strategic goal of both Richter and Helm is to establish a strong biopharma line. With Gedeon Richter as Joint Venture partner Helm is getting the adequate basis for successful production and marketing of biotechnological products. Helm's marketing setup in 32 countries will open the door for fruitful international marketing.
