HELM AG assumes marketing of propylene produced by PETROPLUS refinery in Ingolstadt

On November 5th, 2009, HELM AG and Petroplus Deutschland GmbH signed a Marketing and Sales agreement for the distribution of the entire 60,000 tonnes of propylene per annum, produced by the Ingolstadt Refinery. Propylene is made as a by-product when producing motor gasoline and is used to manufacture many and various petrochemical derivatives and polymers. Propylene is used to produce e.g. foils and packing material, carpets, bumpers, but also breathable clothes.

Petroplus will benefit from the distribution-related strength and the logistical network, HELM is convinced. “Even if a large-scale purchaser should default at some stage, we will assume the expense and risk of resales to third parties. This enables our partner to concentrate even better on their core competences,” said Fried Hansen, Senior Executive Manager of HELM AG.
“This long-term agreement supplements our propylene portfolio, especially in Germany,” says Volker Seebeck, an Executive Board member of HELM AG. “We will be a reliable partner to Petroplus and, in addition, we will reinforce our position as a global marketing partner to the petrochemicals industry.”
HELM AG has been a regular purchaser of propylene produced by the Ingolstadt refinery for over a decade now.
