Isopropanol (IPA) is a chemical compound that is amongst others used in the production of disinfectants and hand sanitizers.

Description

Isopropanol, also known as Isopropylalcohol or Propan-2-ol, is a clear, colorless liquid which can be diluted with water. Isopropanol is a dangerous good and its fumes are flammable. The Product is manufactured from Acetone. With many years of experience in the marketing of Acetone and Phenolics, HELM distributes Isopropanol in Europe, as well as in the Americas.

Examples of applications

The product is a solvent and e.g. used as a cleaning fluid, especially for dissolving oils. Together with ethanol it belongs to the group of alcohol solvents. Furthermore, Isopropanol is widely used as an effective disinfectant for surfaces and skin. As a major ingredient in certain fuel additives, another application of IPA is in the automotive industry.
