Thanks to the fact that it is odourless and highly soluble in water, copper sulphate can be used in a diverse range of applications, including in the textile industry, the production of fertilizers and in medicine.

Copper sulphate contains small amounts of nickel, cobalt, iron, zinc, arsenic and chloride.

Examples of applications

Copper sulphate is mainly used to dye textiles, and in the production of crop protection products. It is particularly suitable for treating fungal diseases in grapevines. In very low concentrations it is also used as an emetic, and thanks to its contracting effect, it has other applications in medicine. In swimming pools and on rooftops, copper sulphate controls the formation of algae.
