Also known under the product name:
- Di-isononyl phthalate
Di-isononyl phthalate (DINP) is a popular PVC softener in Europe. HELM AG operates a successful distribution business in Germany.
Di-isononyl phthalate (DINP) is a colourless liquid with a faint odour and excellent resistance to low temperatures. It is made from the raw materials phthalov anhydride (PSA) and isononanol alcohol (INA). DINP is one of many plasticisers replacing dioctyl phthalate (DOP) in Europe, because DOP contains harmful substances that are subject to labelling laws on the European continent. Under EU legislation, DINP must not be used in the manufacture of toys. There are various other fields of application for DINP.
Examples of applications
DINP is found mainly in the building industry (cables, hoses, floor coverings, films, insulation glass adhesives, wallpaper), the electrical and cable manufacturing industry (sheaths for cables), in car manufacturing (underbody protection, interior linings, seals and gaskets), and in sports and leisure goods (sports mats).
